The city will become one of the world's best settings to observe this extraordinary phenomenon. As the Sun begins to set over the Mediterranean, the Moon will completely obscure it, plunging the city into twilight for approximately one minute. This total solar eclipse will be the most spectacular of the 21st century in Europe.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon aligns exactly between the Earth and the Sun, hiding it completely. In Valencia, the eclipse will begin at 7:38 PM, with totality occurring between 8:32 PM and 8:33 PM, a minute during which a drop in ambient light, a slight decrease in temperature, and twilight sounds will be noticeable.
For optimal viewing, it is recommended to find a high vantage point with a clear western horizon, as the Sun will be very low. Rooftops without obstructing buildings are ideal. La Malvarrosa Beach, specifically between Séquia de la Cadena street and lifeguard post Cabanyal number 3, will be the official observation point in the city, with parking areas and accessible entrances.
Other official observation points in the province include Puzol Beach and Pico del Remedio in Utiel.
It is essential to arrive early and use public transport. Never look directly at the Sun without adequate protection, as it can cause severe eye damage. Certified eclipse glasses with an ISO 12312-2 filter must be used; regular sunglasses, X-rays, or homemade filters are not sufficient. For cameras, mobile phones, or telescopes, specific solar filters must be added.
