The council has approved the technical and administrative specifications that will govern the procedure. This contract, with a duration of three months, has an allocated budget of 115,963.73 euros, including taxes. This action is part of a broader comprehensive renovation program for the venue, encompassing a total investment of approximately 1.9 million euros.
The improvement plan for the Lluís Puig Velodrome, in anticipation of the international athletics event, includes various interventions. Notably, the construction of an adjacent prefabricated modular building and the installation of new sports flooring. The electronic system for raising the athletics track's curves will also be updated, ensuring the facility meets international competition standards.
In recent years, the Palau Velòdrom Lluís Puig has already undergone several modernizations. The lighting has been upgraded with LED technology to enhance energy efficiency, interior spaces have been updated, and fire protection systems have been modernized. These actions, along with the new ones, aim to boost the facility's functionality, accessibility, and sustainability.
Through this series of investments, the Valencia City Council aims to ensure the Palau Velòdrom Lluís Puig is in optimal condition to host the 2027 European Athletics Indoor Championships, reinforcing its position as a leading venue for international athletics.
