Valencia is preparing to become the epicenter of high-performance sailing with the arrival of SailGP. On September 5-6, 2026, the city will offer the chance to witness catamarans flying over the water at speeds exceeding 100 km/h. The competition will be held off the Valencia waterfront, an area already familiar with major nautical events like the America's Cup.
The races will commence from 12:00 PM. Saturday will feature qualifying sessions, while Sunday will host the finals. The competition's proximity to the coast will allow spectators to follow the action from land. Tickets are already on sale on the official SailGP website, with prices starting from 44 euros for children and 72 euros for adults for a single day, and from 69 euros for children and 115 euros for adults for the entire weekend.
SailGP is an international high-speed sailing championship where thirteen teams from thirteen countries compete in identical F50 catamarans equipped with foils. These hydrofoils lift the hull above the water, enabling speeds over 100 km/h. The races are short, intense, and held close to the shore, offering an accessible spectacle for all audiences.
The Spanish team, known as «Los Gallos», will compete at home. Champions of the fourth season, they are one of the youngest teams in the circuit and boast a talented crew led by skipper Diego Botín and Florian Trittel, along with Joel Rodríguez, Joan Cardona, Nicole van der Velden, and Bernardo Freitas.
Beyond the competition itself, SailGP in Valencia will include a program of activities for the general public, featuring a village area, hospitality, and nautical technology exhibitions. The combination of the event with the city's offerings in September promises an unforgettable weekend.
To reach the waterfront during the event, public transport is recommended: metro (lines 3 and 5, Marítim-Serreria or Neptú stops), urban bus (lines 4, 19, 92, and 95), or bicycle. Using a private car is discouraged due to potential congestion.
