The upcoming solar eclipse on Tuesday has raised widespread concern among public administrations in Valencia. A significant influx of visitors is expected, particularly in the provinces of Castellón and Valencia, posing a considerable logistical challenge for municipalities. The Valencia City Council has initiated a security and organization plan comparable to those implemented during Fallas or the Night of San Juan.
Access to the official viewing point at Malva-rosa beach will be managed by Local Police with phased and timed entry controls. The EMT public transport service will be reinforced to facilitate access to the coast. Additionally, the closure of certain public monuments, such as the Torres de Serranos, is being considered to prevent overcrowding and potential disturbances.
The El Saler road (CV-500), leading to L'Albufera, a highly sought-after location for viewing the event, will be closed to traffic at 6 PM, two hours before the eclipse. Residents will face access controls similar to Fallas, requiring proof of residency. La Devesa park will also be closed to the public.
The city is gearing up for a massive and unprecedented event, necessitating the development of operational measures that may be subject to last-minute changes.
