Valencia Port Advances to the Future with Robots, AI, and 5G

The Valencian infrastructure hosts a European testbed with innovations highlighted by the European Commission.

Valencia Port has implemented advanced 5G networks and technologies such as robots and artificial intelligence, becoming a European testbed recognized by the European Commission.

The European project IMAGINE-B5G has successfully concluded by deploying 5GVLCPortLab, an advanced private 5G network within the Port of Valencia. This initiative, co-financed by the Horizon Europe program and coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) with the participation of Fundación Valenciaport, has benefited from the collaboration of the Port Authority of Valencia to experiment with industrial applications based on mobile communications.
The European Commission has recognized the results, including the five technological pilots developed at the Valencian port among the ten greatest achievements in European port technological innovation.
Fundación Valenciaport promotes the introduction of disruptive technologies to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of the logistics-port cluster, paving the way for future evolution towards 6G.
Five pilot projects have been executed, addressing critical port needs: ADAPT-G (drone surveillance), RESCUE-5G (remote maritime rescue), 5G-VIRTUFIX (assisted maintenance with augmented reality), PORTSAFE-B5G (workplace safety with intelligent analytics), and ABYSS-5G (autonomous maritime security and monitoring).
The practical knowledge gained opens the path to expand the technology to areas of higher demand, such as container terminals. Fundación Valenciaport continues to work on new initiatives like 5G-Valenciaport and COP-PILOT to further develop technological solutions in transport and logistics.
