The comprehensive resurfacing works on Gran Vía del Marqués del Túria, a vital artery in Valencia, have been completed ahead of schedule, following over thirty years without significant improvements. The project, awarded to Pavasal for over 1.2 million euros, has renewed 22,126 square meters of surface.
The City Council has invested more than 1.8 million euros in modernizing this avenue, including upgrades to the sanitation network. The new wearing course not only eliminates defects like cracks and subsidence but also improves grip and safety for all users.
According to Mayor María José Catalá, the new pavement is "safe and sustainable" and enhances residents' quality of life, while also reducing traffic noise impact. Over 130,000 square meters of sound-absorbing pavement are being installed across the city, potentially saving around 500 tons of CO2 annually.
This material can reduce traffic noise by up to 10 decibels and CO2 emissions by up to 20%. The renovation also included improvements to gutters, drains, and drainage systems to optimize rainwater evacuation.
Phased planning and simultaneous execution with two machines minimized disruption. The early completion of this project is part of the municipal strategy to make Valencia a safer, more sustainable, and livable place.
