Opera Screenings in Valencia: A Summer Cultural Event at Kinépolis

Kinépolis Paterna cinema hosts the «óh!pera Summer» cycle from July 9 to September 17, offering international opera screenings with high visual and sound quality.

Throughout the summer months, from July 9 to September 17, 2026, Kinépolis Paterna cinemas in Valencia will present a selection of the best opera titles staged in recent years. This cultural series, named «óh!pera Summer», allows audiences to experience these productions from the comfort of a cinema seat, boasting visual and sound quality that aims to surpass that of a theatre seat.
The schedule begins on July 9 at 7:30 PM with Giacomo Puccini's Tosca, recorded at the Macerata Opera Festival. This work depicts a drama of love and politics set in Rome in 1800. On July 23, also at 7:30 PM, Giuseppe Verdi's Aida will be screened, recorded at the Teatro Greco of Taormina, telling a tragic love story between an Ethiopian princess and an Egyptian captain.
Continuing the cycle, on August 6 at 7:30 PM, Giuseppe Verdi's Otello, recorded at the Salzburg Festival, will be shown, depicting how the villainous Iago manipulates the Moorish general Otello with false suspicions of infidelity. On August 20, at the same time, Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chénier, a drama set during the French Revolution and recorded at the Bregenz Festival, will be presented.
The screenings will continue on September 3 at 7:30 PM with Georges Bizet's Carmen, set in 19th-century Seville and recorded in St. Margarethen. The cycle will conclude on September 17 at 7:30 PM with Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco, recorded at the Arena di Verona, which recounts the oppression and subsequent exile of the Jewish people.
