Maximum temperatures on Monday exceeded 36 degrees in numerous locations across the Valencian Community, with a particularly high reading of 38.7 degrees in Xàtiva, making it one of the hottest spots of the day. This value confirms a notable thermal increase compared to previous days.
The second highest maximum was recorded in Carcaixent, reaching 37.1 degrees, joining other towns in the pre-coastal and inland areas of Valencia that have experienced very high temperatures. In Atzeneta del Maestrat (Castellón), temperatures hit 36.8 degrees, while in Llíria (Valencia), thermometers marked 36.7 degrees, highlighting the warming trend in the inland regions of Castellón and Valencia.
In the province of Alicante, Elche and Villena recorded 36.5 degrees, figures that demonstrate the widespread heat across the territory, with particular impact in the inland and pre-coastal areas. Other locations such as Albatera and Turís neared 36.4 degrees, surpassing or approaching the 36-degree mark.
The provincial capitals recorded lower, yet still warm, temperatures: Castellón de la Plana reached 34 degrees, València 33.5 degrees, and Alicante 34.1 degrees.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned that the most concerning situation is expected for Wednesday and Thursday, with a forecast of westerly winds that could push maximum temperatures to 42 or 43 degrees in coastal and pre-coastal areas. This situation, described as 'very adverse', could be accompanied by very dry conditions, increasing the risk of forest fires.
The combination of extreme temperatures and persistent wind necessitates increased caution, especially during the central hours of the day. This forecast anticipates the potential activation of heat advisories across a large part of the Valencian Community, making Monday's episode a prelude to an even more intense thermal surge.
