Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) will offer 166,500 places, 111,500 on the metro and 55,000 on the tram, between 5 PM and midnight to accommodate the mass travel to the beach for the total solar eclipse.
The public company will reinforce Customer Service with agents at the Benimaclet, Àngel Guimerà, and Alameda metro stations, and at the Platja Malva-rosa, Platja les Arenes, and Neptú tram stops during peak demand hours.
Trams will operate with double compositions towards the beaches to increase capacity, while metros will run with five cars to Benimaclet station. From there, passengers can transfer to tram lines 4 and 6 towards the sea, particularly to the Platja Malva-rosa, Platja les Arenes, and Neptú stops.
This measure is implemented during renovation works on the tunnel between the Alameda and Marítim metro stations on Lines 5 and 7, which will last from June 25 to August 30. Affected stations include Aragó, Amistat, Ayora, and Marítim.
The total solar eclipse will occur on Wednesday, August 12, starting at 7:38 PM, peaking at 8:33 PM, and ending around 9:01 PM. Totality will last approximately one minute in Valencia city (from 8:32 PM to 8:33 PM).
During totality, the Moon will completely cover the Sun, ambient light will decrease, the temperature will slightly drop, and twilight sounds of birds and insects may be heard. An official observation point will be set up at Malva-rosa beach, with adapted access for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM).
