As of 1 PM this Wednesday, documentation was requested from 2,682 individuals. A total of 218 flights were checked with the involvement of 372 agents.
In the last 24 hours, 539 passengers have undergone this procedure. The majority (146) arrived at Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport. At El Prat airport, 70 third-country nationals were identified. In Valencia, 14 passengers from one flight; in Bilbao, a dozen from two flights; and in Málaga, four from the same flight.
Among the island airports, Mallorca registered five identifications from one flight. In the Canary Islands, there were four identifications in Lanzarote (two flights), three in Tenerife South (ten flights), and two in Fuerteventura (one flight). Gran Canaria controlled one aircraft without any identifications.
The temporary re-establishment of border controls began on Saturday, August 8th, and will extend until September 7th. The Government has implemented this measure pending Italy's withdrawal of its suspension of the Schengen area to Spain, which was adopted following the migratory crisis in Ceuta on July 30th.
