The president of the FVMP, Paqui Bartual, has submitted a request to the CHJ for the cleaning, conservation, and maintenance of the new course of the Turia River and several ravines and gullies. The municipal entity conveys the municipalities' concern about the accumulation of spontaneous vegetation, reeds, and dry plant debris, a situation that could hinder water evacuation during intense rainfall.
The FVMP requests that these actions be carried out as a priority before the start of the upcoming rainy season. The letter recalls that this request was previously made last year, along with a request for planning of the foreseen actions and a coordination meeting, without the technical plan being received or the meeting being scheduled to date.
The letter emphasizes the importance of this cleaning, especially in sections crossing urban, peri-urban, industrial, or agricultural areas, as vegetation accumulation can increase the risk of flooding and fire. It is highlighted that the Turia River's course is a key infrastructure for the protection of the metropolitan area of València.
Additionally, the FVMP requests the planning of actions for the 2026 fiscal year and the delineation of responsibilities between the CHJ and other administrations. The goal is to provide information to municipalities, ensure coordinated and preventive action, and reduce risks to citizens, property, and infrastructure.
