Starting this Friday, the Valencian Community will experience a significantly anomalous heat episode for September. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), very high temperatures are expected, potentially breaking historical records for this time of year.
Although this new warm spell will not be as intense as those recorded in July and August, Aemet highlights its significance given that it is already September and the usual weather for this period is milder. The meteorological situation will be marked by high atmospheric stability, with light winds and weak sea breezes, conditions that will favor the stagnation of hot air, especially in inland regions, where the highest temperatures are predicted.
Along the Valencian coast, maximum temperatures will generally range between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius. While these values may seem moderate compared to summer months, the combination with high humidity will cause a strong muggy sensation, both day and night.
Aemet emphasizes that, according to the latest forecast models, the average daily temperature could set record values for each specific date over several days starting Friday. This highlights the notable thermal anomaly of this episode for early September. Not only are high maximums expected, but nights could also be very warm, with higher-than-usual minimums, creating a sticky atmosphere that will hinder rest.
The meteorological agency also noted the absence of significant rainfall expectations in the coming days due to the prevailing anticyclonic conditions. This drought, along with persistent heat, could accentuate the muggy feeling and create a dry environment inland and a very humid one along the coast.
In summary, Aemet describes the situation as 'a very anomalous episode of high temperatures' for the season, emphasizing that normal average values for early September could be exceeded for several consecutive days across practically the entire Valencian territory.
