The exhibition «La Albufera», open to the public at the IVAM in Valencia, offers a fascinating visual analysis of our most emblematic wetland. The exhibition, which can be visited until October 18, 2026, explores the landscape not just as a natural setting, but as a territory where nature, biodiversity, and human intervention are in constant tension.
Through a selection of paintings, photographs, and historical documents, the exhibition tour illustrates the evolution of life and exploitation in this environment from the mid-19th century to the present day, addressing the challenges posed by the climate crisis.
The core of the exhibition establishes a dialogue between the photographic exhibition that the IVAM promoted in the eighties, «L’Albufera. Visió tangencial», and six new artistic projects created by artists such as Bleda y Rosa, Paula García-Masedo, or Jorge Ribalta. This contrast, with forty years difference between the works, allows for an appreciation of the profound transformation of the landscape and the ways of portraying the territory.
The exhibition is free and can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, at the IVAM headquarters, located at Guillem de Castro street, 118, in Valencia.
