The IVAM in Valencia has organized a festive event on July 23, 2026, to prepare the public for the upcoming solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. The event, titled 'The Eclipse Party or How to Prepare!', in collaboration with Taller Placer, aims to provide comprehensive preparation, combining learning and fun.
During the afternoon, attendees will learn how to safely observe the eclipse and discover why Valencia is one of the best locations to enjoy this astronomical phenomenon, an event not seen in the city since 1905.
The program includes various activities. At 6:00 PM, the family workshop 'An Eclipse in Your Pocket,' with the Cuerpoterritorio collective, will offer sensory and sound activation within the exhibition 'Tania Candiani. Radix.' At 7:00 PM, the talk 'The Great Interruption' with astrophysicist Amelia Ortiz-Gil will delve into the phenomenon and safe observation techniques. To conclude the day, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, there will be a DJ set featuring jazz, spoken word, and electronic music by Elena Megi.
Additionally, the museum's children's areas, such as 'The Corner of Light and Color,' 'Summer Fun!', and 'The Soft Room,' will be open until 8:00 PM. The first participants in the activities will receive a gift of certified glasses for viewing the eclipse.
