The Valencia City Council has awarded three contracts totaling 291,917.15 euros (VAT included) to adapt the City Museum as a temporary venue for the painter's works. These improvements include enhanced surveillance, the installation of a closed-circuit camera system, and the renovation of the fire detection system. The aim is to guarantee optimal conditions for exhibiting the more than 200 pieces, resulting from an agreement between the Valencia City Council, the Valencian Government (Generalitat Valenciana), and the Hispanic Society of America.
The modification of the private security contract involves an increased presence of guards, particularly during nighttime hours, with an investment of 207,178.52 euros. Meanwhile, the closed-circuit television and intrusion system contract has been awarded to Elecnor Servicios y Proyectos SAU for 46,162.69 euros. Lastly, the contract for renovating the fire detection systems has gone to Prosegur Soluciones Integrales de Seguridad España SL for 38,575.94 euros.
Councilor José Luis Moreno highlighted the effort to reinforce the museum's security and surveillance, ensuring all necessary conditions for the exhibition of the master of light's paintings, "so they can be enjoyed by all Valencians and visitors to the city." The initiative aims for Sorolla's works to be displayed "in all their splendor."
In addition to these measures, the City Council had previously tendered conservation and restoration works to address humidity issues in the Palace of the Marquis of Campo, an intervention necessary to make it a suitable venue for the artworks, with a budget of 350,841 euros. The Generalitat has also authorized payments related to the exhibition, such as the 15-year lease of the works (19.7 million euros) and their transportation (400,000 euros).
