In response to the heatwave, the Valencia City Council has established a series of closures and suspensions in public spaces and activities. The Devesa del Saler will remain closed until Friday, August 21st, inclusive, due to fire risk. The Torres de Serranos and Torres de Quart, as well as the municipal cemeteries, will also be closed.
The Casal d’Esplai will also close its doors, while Gulliver Park will close at 13:00. It is recommended to avoid playgrounds during the hottest hours due to the high temperature of recreational elements. Municipal parks and gardens will remain open, subject to possible wind gusts.
The Municipal Sports Foundation has suspended all outdoor sports activities scheduled for today, including classes on the beach. In contrast, municipal swimming pools will extend their hours until 21:00 to offer a cooling space.
The extraordinary markets in Grao, Benimàmet, Avenida del Cid, and Paseo Marítimo are suspended to prevent vendors and visitors from being exposed to the heat.
Climate shelters will be activated for vulnerable individuals, and the Social Emergency Care Centers (CAES) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Benimaclet, along with the Climate Emergency Center of El Carmen, will remain open. Users of social services have also been informed.
Municipal cleaning crews will end their shift at 12:00, and works such as asphalt paving on Colón street and work on Pérez Galdós and Giorgeta are suspended.
To prevent the risk of forest fires, the SideInfo system of the Saler cannons is activated. The Valencia City Council recommends avoiding unnecessary travel, staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and seeking cool spaces, paying special attention to vulnerable groups.
