The Valencian Community is facing a new episode of intense heat with AEMET warnings for temperatures reaching 42 °C, especially inland, and the possibility of strong storms from the afternoon.

Today has been marked by extreme temperatures in the interior of Valencia and Alicante, with red and orange warnings respectively. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) maintains several warnings active for the coming hours, as the Valencian territory anticipates maximums of up to 42 °C and the arrival of locally strong storms.
The inland regions have recorded values above 40 °C, contrasting with the more moderate temperatures on the coast thanks to the sea breeze. Notable readings include Ontinyent (43.2 °C), Muro d'Alcoi (42.9 °C), and Quesa (42.2 °C).
For tomorrow, Thursday, July 16, AEMET predicts that the heat will continue to intensify at midday, and from the afternoon onwards, instability will join with yellow warnings for storms. An orange warning is activated for the northern and southern interior of Valencia (maximums of 40 °C) and the southern coast of Alicante (up to 39 °C). There is also a yellow warning for the interior of Alicante and in various areas of the coast of Valencia.
Storms with a yellow warning will affect the southern interior and the coast of Valencia from 4:00 PM onwards. The forecast indicates a slight improvement on the coast, but the interior will continue with high values and a hazy atmosphere due to dust. Minimum temperatures will remain stable or rise slightly, while maximums will decrease, except in the interior.
The maximum temperatures forecast for Friday, July 17, include 42 °C in Cofrentes, 41 °C in Orihuela, and 40 °C in Ayora, Elx, and Villena, among other locations. AEMET maintains warnings for high temperatures, especially on the southern coast of Alicante.
