Villena's Sports Councilor, Maite Gandía, has responded to public complaints regarding water consumption at the summer pool and sports facilities. According to data provided by the water supply company, Aqualia, a saving of three million liters of water was recorded in July compared to the same month in 2025.
Gandía detailed that the July consumption, the last full month, was 302,000 liters per day, compared to 401,000 liters per day in 2025. "Objective data shows that the Sports Center saves water: three million liters in July compared to 2025," she stated.
The councilor explained that the daily replenishment of approximately 28,000 liters in the pool is mainly due to water loss through evaporation, with a minimal part attributed to normal leaks during water management and maintenance, according to data from the municipal water supply company.
Gandía believes that the manipulation of some data harms the image of public services and generates false alarmism. "In reality, they demonstrate enormous ignorance and personal interpretation of data taken out of context," she concluded.
