The city of Villena has participated in the 23rd China Asean Expo Tourism Exhibition Area, a major Asian tourism fair, to promote its historical heritage, the Moors and Christians Festivals, and its wine tourism offerings.

With the support of Turespaña and the collaboration of the Guilin Municipal Government, Villena presented its main attractions for the Chinese market, one of the leading international tourist sources, at its dedicated stand. The Councilor for Tourism, Paula García, emphasized the importance of opening new tourism frontiers and finding a niche in a market with strong growth potential.
The stand provided information about the Alicante Wine Route, as well as materials from product clubs such as Spain By Train, the Spanish Historical Heritage Network (REPAHIS), and the Costa Blanca Tourism Board, attracting significant visitor interest.
The Mayor of Villena, Fulgencio Cerdán, along with the Councilor for Tourism, held meetings with Chinese tourism authorities and sector representatives. Cerdán highlighted that Chinese tourists increasingly seek unique and differentiated experiences, and that Villena, with its Castle and natural environment, along with its wineries and traditional landscapes, offers an attractive destination beyond major capitals.
The objective is to position Villena at the "tourism forefront", enhancing the value often more appreciated from abroad, and working for the city's commercial, tourism, and restoration sectors, as has been done for the past eight years.
