The city of Villena concludes its Moors and Christians Festivities program today with the traditional Fireworks Display, scheduled for 1:00 AM tonight from the Atalaya Castle.

The pyrotechnic spectacle was initially planned for the early hours of last Tuesday but had to be postponed. The postponement was in compliance with current regulations due to the red alert decree for extreme forest fire risk issued by the authorities.
The organization of these fireworks has been delayed not only by the climatic conditions and high temperatures recorded in recent days but also by the need to renew the administrative processing required for this type of pyrotechnic activity concerning safety.
These fireworks will mark the end of the final events of the festive program. Previously, the Farewell Pilgrimage, the transfer of the image of the Virgen de las Virtudes to the Sanctuary, and the Entry of New Captains, Ensigns, and Godmothers, scheduled for this afternoon at 5:00 PM, will have taken place.
