The session, delivered by staff from the public company Vaersa, highlighted the responsibility of both individuals and society in preventing forest fires. Additionally, environmental organizations shared their experiences in forest regeneration after fire incidents.
The main goal of this initiative is to foster greater social awareness in the region regarding forest fires, recalling events from 2022 in the northern area and recent incidents in the Sierra de Espadán. It emphasizes that a prosperous and habitable territory depends on citizens' protection of their forest heritage.
The Mancomunidad del Alto Palancia is collaborating with Vaersa to equip local residents with the necessary tools to anticipate risks and ensure the resilience of the region's 28 municipalities. The event brought together residents and representatives from local environmental entities.
The event also served to strengthen synergies among those involved in fire prevention, exploring the possibility of establishing forest volunteer groups. Representatives from organizations such as Öriwa and Dessert Leaves shared their experiences from the fires in Bejís and Fuente la Reina, respectively, as examples for future initiatives.
