The fire has burned a total of 183 hectares between the municipalities of Soneja and Azuébar. The fire was declared under control on Tuesday afternoon, at which point the affected roads could be reopened.
The return of the 500 residents of Azuébar who had been evacuated was possible on Tuesday afternoon, once the situation was under control. More than 200 personnel and 17 aerial units participated in the extinction efforts.
The origin of the fire, which did not appear to be natural according to the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, is being investigated by the Seprona.
