A forest fire that broke out this afternoon in the municipality of Soneja, in the l'Alt Palància region, has forced authorities to order the preventive evacuation of the town of Azuébar.

The measure was taken after the fire reached level 2 of the Special Forest Fire Plan of the Valencian Community. Civil Guard officers went door-to-door to inform residents of the need to leave their homes for safety reasons.
According to official data, around 500 people have been evacuated. To assist those affected, the sociocultural center in Soneja has been set up as a reception point. Additionally, the seminary in Segorbe has been made available to accommodate those who do not have another place to spend the night.
This situation is not new for local residents, who experienced a similar evacuation in August 2021 due to another forest fire that affected 500 hectares. Emergency teams are currently working on extinction efforts to control the spread of the flames.
