The 500 inhabitants of Azuébar, evacuated due to the Soneja wildfire, are gradually returning to normal a week after the fire that burned 183 hectares was extinguished.

The residents of Azuébar, located in the Alt Palància region, have returned to their routine a week after being evacuated due to the wildfire that broke out in the municipality of Soneja. The fire affected approximately 183 hectares and reached the Serra d'Espadà natural park.
A total of 230 personnel from the Generalitat, the State, the Provincial Council of Castellón, and the Military Emergencies Unit (UME) were involved in extinguishing the flames on Tuesday. Residents were able to return to their homes the same day and have begun to resume their daily lives.

"From my terrace, which is on the upper part of the town, you can see the entire affected area."

Mario Gómez, the town's baker, described the situation as "complicated" but assured that "we are already returning to the normality of Azuébar." In addition to daily life, the town has reopened its doors to tourism. Roberto Fernández, manager of the hotel Espadán, confirmed that there have been no booking cancellations despite the recent fire.
Although the official cause of the fire has not been clarified, preliminary investigations point to human causes as the origin of the incident.
