The town in Alto Palancia is getting ready to experience its participation in the television program 'Grand Prix del Verano'. After months of anticipation, calls, and rehearsals, the contest will be broadcast on Monday, August 3rd, where Altura will face the municipality of Pradejón, in La Rioja.
To commemorate the occasion, the City Council has organized a community day that will include the installation of a giant screen in Ramón y Porcel park. The celebration will begin at 9:00 PM, before the contest broadcast, scheduled from 9:45 PM on La 1 and RTVE Play.
Altura's adventure in the program began in March, when RTVE confirmed its selection as one of the twelve participating municipalities. The choice was particularly significant as it was the only Valencian representative, chosen from an initial 1,034 invited towns.
The town has fully embraced the program, with a selection process for participants and audience, and the recording of a promotional video titled ‘Altura al Grand Prix’. This video will be one of the first elements of the celebration, showcasing the town's collective identity before the contest's challenges.
The festive day will start before the broadcast, with water inflatables at the municipal pool until 8:00 PM. Afterwards, a popular dinner will be held, where residents can bring their own food to share in front of the giant screen. There is also an option to pre-order dinner.
Altura will compete against Pradejón, known for being a significant mushroom producer in Spain. The duel promises an interesting clash between the Castellón town, linked to the Cartuja de Valldecrist and the Cueva Santa, and the Navarrese city, considered a capital of mushrooms.
The program, hosted by Ramón García, includes new features like ‘Grand Prix Presenta’ and classic games such as ‘Los troncos locos’ and ‘Los súper bolos’. Altura and Pradejón are part of the six qualifying matchups in an edition featuring twelve towns.
Although the result was recorded weeks ago, the residents of Altura will experience the competition of containing their nerves until Monday, discovering as a community how their team has defended the town's name.
