The Benassal City Council has formalized a collaboration agreement with the Confederation of Rural Development Centers (COCEDER) and the Alt Maestrat Rural Development Center (CDR) to strengthen actions against depopulation and encourage the arrival of new residents to the municipality and the rural territory.
The agreement establishes a joint working framework to develop initiatives related to repopulation, rural entrepreneurship, community revitalization, and the mobilization and rehabilitation of housing. A key focus will be identifying and disseminating existing opportunities in the territory, particularly concerning housing, employment, businesses, and land.
COCEDER and CDR Alt Maestrat will publicize available resources and refer interested individuals seeking to settle in rural areas to Benassal. The City Council, in turn, will provide information and collaborate in identifying local resources and opportunities. The agreement also allows property owners with housing, land, or businesses to include these resources in the project's dissemination mechanisms.
Furthermore, the organizations will offer advice and support to individuals wishing to settle in the area, as well as assistance to owners, city councils, and local entities regarding housing and population retention.
The City Council will work jointly with CDR Alt Maestrat and COCEDER on awareness, communication, and revitalization actions, as well as collaborative processes contributing to integral rural development.
The agreement has an initial term of four years, with no financial contribution between the signing entities. It is part of COCEDER's programs for raising awareness about depopulation and promoting rural entrepreneurship, subsidized by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs, and the 2030 Agenda.
