The Benassal City Council has organized an event to highlight the fundamental role of women in rural areas, emphasizing their contribution to agriculture, livestock farming, and territorial development.

Benassal commemorated the International Day of Rural Women with a round table discussion and a photographic exhibition dedicated to recognizing and valuing the role of women in agriculture, livestock farming, and territorial development. The event brought together several professionals from the area who shared their personal and professional experiences in sectors traditionally dominated by men.
Under the title "Women Who Make Fields: Pioneers, Present, and Future of the Rural World," the round table took place at the SPAP in Benassal, offering firsthand insights into the experiences, challenges, and opportunities faced by women who have made the countryside their profession and way of life.
Participants included Milagros Beltran Garcia, Balma Boix Sales, Lorena Ortí Porcar, Lola Sales Garcia, Rebeca Sales Ros, Anna Traver Sebastià, and Thais Orenga Carceller. They provided diverse perspectives on the reality of the primary sector and the evolving role of women in agricultural and livestock activities.
Throughout the conversation, participants shared their career paths and experiences in a professional environment where male presence has historically been predominant. Their contributions underscored the importance of women's work in maintaining agricultural and livestock farms, as well as in the continuity of economic and social activity in rural municipalities.
The event concluded with a photographic exhibition dedicated to rural women, an initiative that helped to highlight their presence and prominence in the region.
The Benassal City Council emphasized the enriching nature of the gathering and the need to continue recognizing women's contributions to the productive life of the villages. The council also expressed its gratitude to all participants for generously sharing their experiences.
The activity was organized by the Rural Development Center (CDR) Alt Maestrat, with the participation of the Mancomunitat of Alt Maestrat and the Benassal City Council.
Through this initiative, Benassal aimed to assert that women have not only been essential in the past of these villages but are also protagonists of their present and indispensable for ensuring the future of the rural world.
