The Service for Attention and Follow-up for people with severe Mental Health problems (SASEM) in Alcoi has assisted a total of sixty-six people during the first half of 2026.
The Service for Attention and Follow-up for people with severe Mental Health problems, known as SASEM, integrated into Alcoi's basic social services network since 2021, has provided comprehensive support to sixty-six individuals during the first six months of 2026. The average age of users is forty-three years, with a range from eighteen to sixty-four years. Fifty-one percent of those attended are women and forty-nine percent are men.
Support is provided through weekly activities including art therapy, cognitive stimulation, and leisure workshops, as well as psychoeducation groups for users and specific support groups for families. Physical activity is also prominent, with hiking excursions, sports at the Eduardo Latorre complex, and activities at the municipal pool.
One-off initiatives have included a Easter breakfast and excursions to sites of socio-linguistic and environmental interest such as La Sarga, Castell de festes, the MAF, a Red Cross exhibition on unwanted loneliness, and the Molí l'Ombria. Courses on smartphone use and digital security, in coordination with Orange, have also been conducted to foster community intervention.
Network collaboration extends to quarterly meetings with the Mental Health Unit, quarterly awareness talks in schools, and monthly meetings with local training and employment companies. The team participates in the mental health commission and three working groups focused on awareness, Mental Health Day, and employment integration.
