The Alcoi City Council has prepared a new edition of the Senior Conviviality Week, taking place from September 28 to October 2, coinciding with Senior Citizens' Day. The event focuses on addressing unwanted loneliness.

This year's program aims to create spaces for meeting and sharing experiences for citizen well-being, as explained by Senior Citizens' technician, Maria Amparo Gómez. Activities will be held at various senior centers in the city.
The schedule will kick off on Monday at the Oliver Senior Center with a photography embroidery workshop led by Elena Reig. On Tuesday, the Ames de Casa headquarters will host a laughter therapy session by Solc, while in the afternoon, the Zona Nord Senior Center will offer an aromatherapy workshop conducted by Maria Jordà.
On Wednesday, the La Plaça Senior Center will be the venue for creating life stories with El Sarnatxo Animació. In the afternoon, the Zona Nord Senior Center will host a roundtable discussion on loneliness, with the collaboration of the Red Cross and the La Fàbrica Health Center.
Thursday's activities at the Zona Alta Senior Center will include a workshop on healthy eating and emotional well-being, presented by Claudia Moltó and Tamar Vanyó. On Friday, the Oliver Senior Center will host a session on participatory budgeting.
The week will conclude with a closing party at the La Plaça Senior Center, featuring a snack and performances by the Coral de la Zona Nord, the La Plaça dance group, and the Oliver Coral. Registrations for the workshops will be open from September 21 to 25 via designated phone numbers.
The Councilor for Senior Citizens, Aroa Mira, highlighted the importance of this initiative: 'We want to offer citizens real spaces where they can share experiences, stay active, and improve their quality of life, because the best municipal policy is one that promotes active, healthy aging and prevents social isolation.'
