The new season for swimming courses in Alcoy, starting on October 1, 2026, has recorded 531 registrations, surpassing the 506 from the previous year. A total of 540 places have been offered, 30 more than last year, with a notable increase in groups for the youngest age ranges.
The expansion of places has focused on baby groups (12 to 36 months), which increase from 50 to 80 places, with 70 registered participants, and on the group for children aged 3 to 5, which grows from 144 to 162 places, with 176 registered. Other age groups have been adjusted based on demand.
Seven instructors will lead the sessions, which will run until June 19, 2027. The program caters to participants from 12 months to adulthood, with 45-minute sessions adapted to different levels.
“"The increase in places, especially among babies and younger children, allows us to respond to a demand that has grown compared to the previous year. The objective is for more and more families to access an activity that combines learning, physical exercise, and familiarization with the aquatic environment."
The Councilor for Sports, Alberto Belda, highlighted that the rise in places addresses growing demand, aiming to facilitate access to an activity combining learning, exercise, and water familiarization. He also emphasized the importance of having seven instructors for adequate attention, noting swimming as a lifelong healthy activity.
The municipal program includes groups for various age brackets: 12 to 36 months, 3 to 5 years, 6 to 9 years, 10 to 14 years, 15 to 17 years, and adults over 18 years.
