The Alcoy council has communicated its demand for the reopening of the Zona Alta health center, subsequent to interventions carried out on the building's climate control system. According to municipal technicians, the improvements now ensure adequate temperatures for medical services, thereby eliminating, in the council's view, the obstacles that justified the center's closure.
The Councilor for Public Health, Carles Sansalvador, highlighted the City Council's responsibility in addressing a situation that directly impacts the healthcare of Zona Alta residents. Sansalvador emphasized that, having fulfilled their part, they now expect the Ministry to proceed with the center's reopening.
Furthermore, Sansalvador criticized the Department of Health's lack of response to a meeting request submitted weeks ago, intended to discuss this and other significant health issues for the city. The councilor deems the communication breakdown unacceptable given the problem affecting citizens.
Consequently, the councilor demands an immediate response from the Ministry of Health, both to the meeting request and to the confirmation of the Zona Alta health center's reopening date. The aim is to guarantee healthcare services at this facility while progressing with the plans for a new center.
Sansalvador recalled that, concurrently with the climate control upgrades, the City Council has advanced preparations for the tender process for the new health center. He believes this project has faced excessive delays from the regional government. The ultimate goal is to find a definitive solution to the neighborhood's healthcare needs.
