On the occasion of the Mig Any 2026 celebration, the Alcoy City Council, through the Department of Equality and LGTBI Policies and the Community Prevention Unit for Addictions (UPCA), will intensify prevention, awareness, and citizen support measures.
Four Violet Points (one fixed and three mobile) will be set up to offer guidance and support to victims of sexist aggression, raise awareness against such behavior, and promote festivities based on respect and equality. The fixed point will be located on País Valencià Avenue (opposite Caixabank) from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM. The mobile points will cover various areas of the city center, including País Valencià Avenue, Sant Llorenç, Sant Nicolau, Sant Francesc, La Glorieta streets, País Valencià Avenue, Emili Sala Square, and Gonçal Cantó Square, operating on staggered schedules.
The deputy mayor and councilor for Equality and LGTBI Policies, Àlex Cerradelo, highlighted the importance of this initiative in promoting a safer and more respectful Mig Any.
In parallel, the UPCA will provide an information service for the prevention and risk reduction associated with the consumption of alcohol and other psychoactive substances. This point will be located at the intersection of País Valencià Avenue and Bambú Street, operating from 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM.
The intervention will be adapted to the reality of youth leisure, addressing not only alcohol but also other substances with a high prevalence. The Councilor for Public Health, Carles Sansalvador, explained that the main objective is to raise awareness and inform about the risks, debunk myths, and foster a critical and responsible attitude.
