The Alcoy City Council has prepared a special plan for the 2026 Mig Any festival, featuring mobility, security, lighting, and cleaning measures adapted to the celebration of the 750th anniversary of Saint George's patronage.

The city of Alcoy has organized a special operation for the Mig Any festival, taking place on Saturday, October 24th. This year, the celebration coincides with the 750th anniversary of Saint George's patronage, prompting the implementation of specific measures for mobility, security, lighting, and cleaning to facilitate the event's proceedings.
Traffic diversions are planned for the Commemorative Diana, starting at 6:30 AM in the city center. From 7:30 AM, circulation will be restricted on Avenida del País Valencià before the Diana begins at 8:00 AM. Restrictions will affect key points such as Plaça d’Espanya, Pont de Sant Jordi, and the streets Sant Nicolau and Sant Jaume. Traffic will be progressively restored as the route advances. The city center and Sant Llorenç will maintain restrictions until the 'entradetes' (processions) conclude, scheduled from 6:00 PM onwards.
Access to the Mercat de Sant Mateu (Saint Matthew Market) will be guaranteed until 8:00 AM, with passage regulated on Carrer de Sant Domènech by an officer and Civil Protection volunteers. The City Council advises planning travel and respecting provisional signage.
Plaça d’Espanya will feature enhanced lighting, and the flag of Saint George will be hoisted from a City Hall balcony as a symbolic element of this special edition. Additionally, festive lighting ('enramada festera') will illuminate several streets in the center, including sections of Carrer Pintor Casanova, Sant Blai, and Sant Miquel, home to the Casal de Sant Jordi. This lighting will be active in the morning, from 8 AM to 11 AM.
To boost recycling, twenty 360-liter yellow containers will be installed for selective packaging collection during the Diana and 'entradetes'. These will be distributed in high-traffic areas such as Sant Nicolau, Sant Llorenç, and Avenida del País Valencià.
The plan also includes the installation of additional portable toilets at the end of Avenida del País Valencià and at El Partidor to accommodate the public influx. The City Council thus maintains a specific plan for municipal resources to facilitate participation and ensure the proper functioning of public spaces.
La Glorieta will resume its usual use on Sunday, October 25th, opening from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM for 'filaes' (brotherhoods) to retrieve their equipment. Cleaning will commence at 11:00 AM, and the area is expected to be available again around 2:00 PM.
