The tender for the new day center in Xixona, with an initial budget of 1,438,950 euros, has attracted the interest of two construction companies. The bids submitted are 1,379,233 euros from Aitana Actividades de Construcción y Servicios and 1,438,344 euros from Mediterráneo de Obras y Asfaltos.
The Contracting Board has positively assessed the bid from Aitana Actividades de Construcción y Servicios, considering it the most advantageous. This company stood out for its offered price, extended warranty, and proposed improvements, such as the elimination of a mezzanine floor and the replacement of partitions with laminated plasterboard.
Once the work is awarded, the winning company will have a period of six months for the comprehensive renovation of the property, located on Torre de les Maçanes street. This space, with a capacity for 50 places, will become a day center for elderly individuals in situations of dependency.
The project has been marked by a disagreement between the Xixona City Council and the Generalitat Valenciana. Initially, the Ministry of Social Services included the renovation within the Plan Convivint with an estimated investment of 420,000 euros and delegated responsibilities to the council. However, the Ministry threatened to revoke the agreement on two occasions due to delays in the timeline.
Ultimately, Social Services withdrew the competencies and initial funding. Faced with this situation, the Xixona City Council filed an administrative-contentious appeal against the Generalitat and decided to proceed with the project using its own funds, at a cost significantly higher than the initial estimate.
