Despite abstaining, Vox representatives believe that the mayor Luis Barcala (PP) "should leave". For their part, the councilors of the PP government team voted against the proposal, which also demanded the mayor's resignation, after he failed to appear before the municipal VPO commission.
The declaration, presented urgently during the ordinary July plenary session, faced criticism from PSPV spokesperson Ana Barceló, who reproached Barcala for his lack of explanations regarding Les Naus, recalling that all groups had approved the commission's creation. Compromís spokesperson Rafa Mas described the commission as a "sham" and stressed that the latest VPO "have been distributed" among individuals linked to the PP, requesting to join the judicial case.
From EU-Podem, their spokesperson, Manolo Copé, criticized Barcala's "ten excuses" for not attending the commission, questioning why the PP had approved its establishment if the mayor already considered himself satisfied with the explanations given in the plenary session.
Vox spokesperson Carmen Robledillo accused the left of wanting to turn the plenary into a "political trial", but criticized Barcala's absence, stating that he "had the opportunity" to appear. According to Robledillo, his "absence generated doubts" and provided arguments to the opposition. The group abstained from the vote, although they believe the mayor "should leave" out of "decency and common sense".
PP spokesperson Mari Carmen de España accused the left of turning the commission into a "scenario of political confrontation". She highlighted that no member of the current government team is under investigation in the judicial case, unlike former Urban Planning councilor Rocío Gómez, who resigned in January.
