San Vicente del Raspeig has welcomed the 2026/2027 school year with an enrollment exceeding 12,000 students in Early Childhood Education, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training. Adding approximately 25,000 students from the University of Alicante, the total number of students in the municipality reaches around 37,000. These figures reinforce San Vicente's character as a young, dynamic city strongly linked to education, making it one of the towns with the largest student population in the province.
Mayor Pachi Pascual officially inaugurated the course with a visit to the CEIP Azorín, coinciding with its 50th anniversary. During the event, he congratulated the director, Rebeca Albujer, and the entire educational community, highlighting the center's importance in San Vicente's educational history. The mayor emphasized that the City Council faces the new academic year with three strategic pillars: continuous improvement of educational infrastructure, strengthening collaboration with the educational community, and enhanced support for students and families most in need.
In terms of infrastructure, collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana has been highlighted to promote projects under the Plan Edificant and the new Plan Educlima, in addition to a municipal school maintenance plan. Among the most advanced actions of the Plan Edificant is the CEIP L’Horta, with works already underway for a new gymnasium and facility renovations. Projects for the new IES número 6 and the expansion of CIPFP Canastell are also progressing, with reports already sent to the Ministry of Education. Procedures have also begun for CEIPs Bec de l’Àguila and Raspeig.
The Plan EduClima has also been boosted with individualized studies for the twelve public schools, aiming to improve thermal comfort. The Councilor for Education, Melania Llopis, highlighted the nearly 50 conservation and improvement actions carried out during the summer to prepare the schools. Furthermore, the San Vicente Educa 2026/27 activity calendar has been presented, which will include training and gatherings starting in October.
The government team's priorities include resources for vulnerable students. The Education department will increase funding for the school absenteeism program by 20% and will continue support from the Unit for the Prevention of Addictive Behaviors (UPCA). The Social Rights department will launch aid for school supplies, books, and online training for vulnerable families, available from September 10th to October 16th.
In terms of work-life balance, the new Plan Corresponsables is launching with programs such as Concilia-Finde (ages 4-16) and Recapacita (ages 13-16), in addition to socio-educational, musical activities, and play centers for various age groups. Aid for the nutrition of children aged 0 to 3 enrolled in early childhood education is also planned.
The mayor reaffirmed the municipal commitment to quality, inclusive public education, highlighting inter-departmental coordination to ensure equal opportunities. The Councilor for Education extended her best wishes to the educational community and emphasized the importance of maintaining direct contact with schools to address their needs.
