The Governing Board of the San Vicente del Raspeig City Council has authorized the initiation of proceedings to partially modify the works contract for the Civil Guard barracks, located on Poeta Miguel Hernández street.

The process, carried out by the Architecture department, began to replace the four prefabricated modules initially planned for the central courtyard with adaptation works for administrative use of a new space, previously occupied by a disused dwelling. These areas will be added to the interior renovation of the south wing and part of the east wing of the building.
Subsequently, technicians have reported the need to intervene on other elements. On one hand, elements containing detected asbestos will be removed, and on the other hand, the structural system will be addressed, and the tile roofing will be repaired due to damage from recent rain episodes.
The additional works, budgeted at 20,000 euros, will increase the total cost of the project to 194,000 euros. This 12% increase complies with current public procurement regulations and will be covered by the City Council.
The mayor and councilor for Architecture, Pachi Pascual, stated that the changes and improvements have the agreement of the Civil Guard representatives, with whom they have collaborated to enhance the functionality of services and make the daily work of the agents more operational.
Pascual emphasized the need to expedite the resumption of works to modernize the building, which has not received significant investment for years. It was considered that the central courtyard is essential for the barracks' operation, and the decision to leave it clear was facilitated by the availability of an interior dwelling with a larger usable area than the initially planned prefabricated modules.
