The Generalitat Valenciana has highlighted the role of La Vuelta Ciclista a España in economic revitalization and regional promotion. President Juanfran Pérez Llorca attended on Sunday the start of the ninth stage, held between la Vila Joiosa and the Alto de Aitana, a key stage in the province of Alicante. The event brought together fans, teams, and institutional representatives.
The Second Vice President, José Díez; the President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Toni Pérez; and the Mayor of la Vila Joiosa, Marcos Zaragoza, also participated. Their joint presence underscored institutional support for an event that projects the Valencian Community internationally.
Pérez Llorca emphasized that La Vuelta's passage through Valencian municipalities stimulates the local economy, increasing activity in shops, hotels, and restaurants due to the arrival of teams, organization, and fans. Furthermore, he highlighted how the cycling race promotes sports participation and reinforces the image of the Valencian Community as a tourist destination.
Media coverage and television broadcasts showcase landscapes and towns, giving them visibility. The president also acknowledged the coordinated work of the three Valencian provincial councils in facilitating the arrival of events of this magnitude and distributing their benefits.
During the morning, Pérez Llorca greeted Pau Martí, a cyclist from Moixent and the only Valencian competing in this edition of La Vuelta with the NSN Cycling Team. The president conveyed the Council's support, valuing his representation of Valencian cycling in a demanding international competition.
Before the start, the head of the Council participated in the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, a symbolic gesture of institutional commitment to the race, which seeks attractive stages and emblematic finishes like the ascent to Alto de Aitana.
According to information from the Generalitat, the Valencian Community's participation in La Vuelta consolidates the regional government's commitment to hosting major sporting events, aiming for economic return, promoting healthy habits, and positioning the territory as an ideal venue for outdoor disciplines.
