The measure entails strict restrictions in forest lands, such as the prohibition of walking on trails and cross-country. Likewise, the suspension of any type of work or service in these areas has been ordered, and lighting fires within a 500-meter strip around forest spaces is prohibited.
The Emergency Coordination Center has established a red alert for heat in the southern coast of Alicante and Valencia. In other areas, such as the southern interior of Castellón and various parts of Valencia and Alicante, the orange level has been activated, while the yellow alert for storms and heat extends across much of the Valencian geography.
The State Meteorological Agency expects temperatures to reach 42 degrees in some areas between 12:00 and 19:59. Given this episode, authorities recommend that citizens exercise extreme caution, avoid direct sun exposure during the central hours of the day, and stay hydrated.
The joint resolution by the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response and the Regional Secretariat for Environment and Territory particularly affects thirteen natural parks, including Serra d'Espadà, Serra Calderona, and the forest area of Albufera. Sports events in forest terrain are suspended until the alert ends.
