The strategy aims primarily to reduce the territory's vulnerability to extreme weather events. Among the key actions, a 25 million euro investment is planned for the Vega Baja region to increase the hydraulic capacity of the Segura River, including vegetation clearing and the renaturalization of 25 kilometers of riverbed.
On the other hand, the Monnegre River green corridor project will receive 15 million euros to regenerate 22 kilometers of riverbed. This initiative, currently in an advanced drafting stage, will pass through the municipalities of Tibi, Xixona, Mutxamel, Alicante, Sant Joan, and El Campello, offering new spaces for the public.
Finally, the creation of a river park between Mutxamel and Sant Joan has been announced, with a budget of 11.5 million euros. This intervention will allow for the recovery of 60,000 square meters of green space and improve water quality at beaches such as Postiguet, Albufereta, and El Cabo.
