The Municipal Housing Board of the City Council of Alicante has completed the renovation of 12 elevators in the four social housing buildings in the San Blas neighborhood. The project, carried out by the company Otis Mobility S. A., involved a total investment of 520,000 euros, divided into two phases.
The first phase saw the renovation of five elevators for 239,901 euros, and the second, now completed, installed seven more lifts for 279,961 euros. Specifically, elevators at numbers 8, 10, 12, and 14 on Antonio Martín Trenco street have been modernized, as well as those at San Raimundo 17 and 19. Additionally, the control panels for the latter have been updated.
This initiative addresses a long-standing demand from residents and significantly improves accessibility and communication in these social housing blocks intended for affordable rent. The Councilor for Housing, Carlos de Juan, highlighted the fulfillment of commitments made to the residents.
De Juan noted that the renovation was challenging due to material supply difficulties stemming from international conflicts, which caused some delays. Despite these challenges, the work has been successfully completed, ensuring safety and accessibility.
The councilor personally supervised the completed works, verifying the quality of the improvements made to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility and enhance the overall conditions of the housing.
