With five months remaining in 2026, the Consorcio Mare has managed and treated a total of 151,117.26 tons of waste. This figure represents a 7.34% increase compared to the same period last year, as announced by the Consortium's president, José Ramón González de Zárate. This growth is attributed to policies aimed at enhancing services and infrastructure.
The president explained that the Consortium is working to facilitate selective waste separation by bringing mobile ecoparks closer to the public, extending operating hours, and incentivizing recycling through bonuses and citizen awareness campaigns. These initiatives have led to a gradual and sustained increase in waste received at the El Campello Environmental Complex.
In just seven months, the facility processed 26,451.34 tons of waste in July 2026, up from 19,513.82 tons in January 2026. González de Zárate highlighted that this 7.34% rise would not have been possible without public collaboration and the modernity of the facilities.
The materials processed include those from brown bins (organic matter) and grey bins (residual waste), as well as from the Consorci Mare's ecopark network, which handles items such as light bulbs, batteries, WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), bulky waste, and construction debris.
