Following several days of religious, sporting, and cultural events, El Campello is officially launching its patron saint festivities dedicated to the Virgen del Carmen, the patroness of fishermen. Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 13th, a floral offering at the fisherman's monument, an opening address transformed into a light, sound, and fire show, and the transfer of the Virgin's statue from its hermitage to the fishing port will mark the beginning.
At 7:00 PM, a floral offering will take place at the foot of the fisherman's monument on Carrer la Mar beach. Later, at 10:30 PM, this year's novelty will be the opening address, held on the street of the hermitage. The Department of Festivals and Traditions has reimagined the usual emotional speech into an audiovisual spectacle where the temple's facade will come to life with music, lights, and fire.
At 11:00 PM, one of the most anticipated events: the nighttime transfer of the Virgen del Carmen statue across the beach sand, from the hermitage to the fishing port. This event will feature musical accompaniment and dances by the Colla Larraix and the Lorena Moll Dance School ballet. It will conclude with a firework display from La Illeta Tower, weather permitting, and a performance by the Casino de El Campello choir.
The program will extend until Sunday, July 19th, with activities for all ages, including 'despertàs' (wake-up calls), simultaneous musical performances at six locations along the promenade, parades, and a field mass.
On Friday, July 17th, there will be children's activities, the traditional 'correfocs' (fire run), and a concert at the port's esplanade. The 18th and 19th will be dedicated to community gatherings with popular lunches and dinners, 'Muixeranga' (human towers), carnival, and Valencian pilota exhibitions.
The maritime procession, on July 16th, will be one of the most emotional moments, with dozens of boats accompanying the Virgin's image, followed by thousands of people from land. The day will conclude with a fireworks display on Carrer la Mar beach, dependent on meteorological conditions.
