The Consorci Mare, the entity responsible for domestic waste treatment in 52 municipalities of the Marina Alta, Marina Baixa, and El Campello, has initiated the process to offer bonuses to citizens for good practices. In this first edition, 110,078.14 euros will be distributed among 12,211 residents, who will receive discounts on their waste fees.
The Consortium's president, José Ramón González de Zárate, highlighted that the promise to reward citizens who use the eco-park network for waste disposal is being fulfilled. Municipalities can now contact the Consortium to begin the process of transferring these reductions to the residents.
Currently, municipalities pay the waste treatment fees to Consorci Mare. Therefore, the bonuses will be paid to the town councils, along with a list of users, so they can apply the reductions to the residents' municipal taxes.
El Campello leads this initiative with 1,408 residents receiving bonuses and a total allocation of 11,495.68 euros. It is followed by Altea, with 621 users and 5,543.86 euros, and Orba, which will reward 520 people with 6,040.35 euros.
The bonus amount depends on the type and quantity of waste deposited. Generally, more polluting waste yields more points, resulting in a larger discount. The minimum discount is 5 euros and the maximum is 100 euros.
To be eligible for the bonus, residents must be registered in the eco-park network and use these facilities for household waste not suitable for regular bins. Registration can be done by downloading the mobile application Consorci MARE Actais Waste and signing up at the nearest eco-park.
The mobile eco-parks regularly visit the 52 municipalities within the Consortium. Schedules and locations can be found on the institution's official website (https://consorciomare.es/ecomovil/) and on their social media channels (@consorcimare).
