Alicante is preparing for a September full of commercial and gastronomic activities with the celebration of up to a dozen special events. These events, promoted by the Department of Commerce and Hospitality, aim to showcase the excellence of local commerce and the city's cuisine, attracting thousands of people.
Among the novelties is the gastronomic competition ‘A las Bravas’, which will select the best bravas potatoes in Alicante. It will take place in Plaza Séneca from September 25th to 27th, organized by Alicante Street Style and Alacant Street Market in collaboration with the City Council. Many city restaurants have already joined this initiative.
Another anticipated event is ‘Quintana en Vendimia’, scheduled for Saturday, September 19th, on Poeta Quintana street. The event will feature 36 wineries, a record number, offering tastings of wines with Protected Designation of Origin from the province. The commercial area will be filled with establishments offering deals, gastronomic tastings, live music, and children's workshops. Entry will be free.
The fourth edition of ‘La Millor Tapeta del Món’ will be held on September 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st, and 22nd at the Cerca facilities. Organized with the Costablanca Tourism Board and the Provincial Association of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of Alicante, the event aims to showcase the variety of tapas, professionals, and quality products from the region. Participating restaurants include La Fava by Fran Burgo (Benidorm), Seis Perlas (El Campello), El Caragol de Francesc (Alcoy), HB (Torrevieja), and E-Tika (Altea).
The Councilor for Commerce and Hospitality, Lidia López, expressed her satisfaction, highlighting that Alicante is experiencing a peak moment thanks to its focus on gastronomy and local products, which position it internationally and boost the economy, hospitality, and commerce, generating employment.
Other events include the ‘Noche de Candiles’ in the San Gabriel neighborhood on Saturday, September 12th, which will transform the area with over 2,000 candles, live music, offers, and family activities. The traveling exhibition “Mercasa, since 1966 serving the food chain” will also be on display at El Portalet until September 20th, reviewing 60 years of history of the wholesale market network.
Further gastronomic events include a celebration for World Arepa Day on September 15th, organized by the restaurant Sabolé. Additionally, on Sunday, September 27th, the Cross de Mercalicante will take place, featuring its XII Cross, VI Mile, and II 5K “Salud Mediterránea”, returning to the provincial calendar with the collaboration of the Cerca of Alicante.
