A total of 87 people underwent free vision screenings on Thursday, October 22nd, at the University of Alicante, marking World Vision Day. Of these, 37 individuals, or 42%, presented potential visual problems, mainly uncorrected myopia and astigmatism.

The event, themed "Visual Health for All," was organized by the Department of Optics, Pharmacology, and Anatomy, in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences. The screenings were carried out by fourth-year students from the Degree in Optics and Optometry at a station set up near the main entrance of the General Library.
The day also included a lecture titled "The Role of the Optometrist in Public Healthcare," delivered by Noelia Agulló Campoy, a graduate in Optics and Optometry and Head of Optometry Teaching for the Dénia Health Department, held in the Alfredo Orts auditorium at the UA.
The initiative aimed to promote visual health awareness within the university community and emphasize the importance of preventing and detecting potential vision impairments.
