A total of 5,309 students began the 2026/2027 school year in Novelda today, distributed across various educational stages. This figure represents a slight increase of 79 students compared to the previous year. Enrollments are distributed as follows: 816 for Early Childhood Education, 1,625 for Primary Education, 1,417 for Secondary Education, 438 for Baccalaureate, and 1,013 for Vocational Training Cycles. Additionally, the municipal Conservatories of Music and Dance have 134 and 110 students respectively, along with the Children's School and the Permanent Adult School.
The Councilor for Education, Paqui Beltrá, highlighted the work carried out in recent months to ensure a normalized start to the school year. Her department, along with the Municipal School Council and the Enrollment Commission, continues to manage 130 late enrollments and is addressing applications from new families who have moved to the municipality.
Regarding teaching staff, the incorporation of teachers has been completed, with the exception of a few specific vacancies in Special Education at the CEIP Jorge Juan, for which efforts are underway to fill them. Beltrá emphasized the coordination and involvement of all management teams, teaching staff, caretakers, cleaning personnel, and municipal brigades to ensure the centers are in optimal condition.
Novelda faces this academic year with a consolidated educational network and extensive municipal support, aiming to promote quality public education as a driver of equality and social cohesion. The councilor underscored the commitment to training that goes beyond the academic curriculum, featuring an extracurricular activities program focused on integral development, talent, and values.
The extracurricular program includes reinforcement workshops, emotional intelligence, Theater Therapy, new masculinities, and the Emprendidos project, designed to foster creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Furthermore, key initiatives such as the School Wake-up Service to prevent absenteeism, the Psychological Family Counseling Service, and the Family Support and Counseling Program, which offer psycho-educational tools to strengthen the role of families, will continue.
The Inclusive Summer and Christmas Schools will continue to integrate students with special educational needs during holidays, facilitating work-life balance for families and promoting inclusion and respect for diversity.
