The 'Elda 5K-Gran Premio Egari' race reaches its tenth edition this year, featuring the addition of a Nordic walking event and increased prize money.

The Avenida de Ronda will host a new edition of the 'Elda 5K-Gran Premio Egari' athletics race next Saturday, organized by the Club Atletismo Elda and the Elda City Council, through the Sports Department. This year, the event celebrates its tenth edition with a significant novelty: the inclusion of a 5K Nordic walking race, which will start at 7:00 PM, the same time as the main athletics race. The children's categories will begin at 6:00 PM.
The event, presented by the Councilor for Sports, Enrique Quílez, alongside Joaquín Alcaina (Club Atletismo Elda), international athlete Pilar Rubio Sánchez, and Sagrario Candelas (Club y Escuela de Marcha Nórdica), receives annual municipal support for its expansion and improvement.
The race will take place on the Avenida de Ronda, near Severo Ochoa Park. Prize money remains, with an increased total of 1,950 euros. The winner will receive 300 euros, second place 200 euros, and third place 100 euros. Additionally, there will be a sprint prize at the 2.5K mark and a special award for breaking the race record.
Currently, over 500 athletes are registered, including last year's male and female winners. Registrations are open until Thursday at 11:59 PM or until bibs run out. Sign-ups can be done in person at Juanfran Training and Floristería Eldense (Elda), and at Runningnator (Petrer), as well as online at www.asuspuestos.es. Bib collection will be on Friday and Saturday at the Casa Viuda de Rosas.
