The gala, part of the Senior Month activities, will begin at 7:00 PM. The event, established in 2018, was suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic, leading to the recognition of both 2020 and 2021 couples in the 2021 celebration.
This event continues to be the main institutional culmination of Elda's Senior Month, a period filled with activities, workshops, conferences, and intergenerational proposals designed to highlight the fundamental role of seniors.
The Councilor for Senior Citizens, David Guardiola, presented the gala, for which registration is open until October 18th. Guardiola emphasized that the event is a "sincere and profound tribute" to couples commemorating half a century of life together, "fifty years of love, commitment, shared effort, and complicity that not only represent an admirable life journey but also the foundations and values upon which Elda is built".
The Department of Social Welfare and Senior Citizens reaffirms its commitment to active policies ensuring seniors remain the undisputed protagonists of the municipality's social, cultural, and emotional life. Initiatives like this gala, along with the October program and the City Council's support networks, demonstrate Elda's dedication to caring for, accompanying, and proudly recognizing those who have contributed so much to society.
In previous years, over a hundred Elda couples have been honored. Interested families can submit the required documentation (Family Book, ID of each partner, wedding photograph in 15x21 cm format, brief couple's history, and completed registration form) in person and free of charge at the Severo Ochoa Social Center. David Guardiola encouraged couples celebrating their fifty years of marriage, along with their families, to participate in this tribute at the Teatro Castelar, aiming for an "authentic celebration of coexistence and affection, open to all citizens".
