The city of Elda has benefited from a subsidy of 52,553 euros from the Ministry of Equality funds, aimed at fulfilling the State Pact against Gender Violence. These municipal grants primarily aim to improve the institutional response to this issue, ensuring comprehensive care and effective protection for victims.
The distribution of funds considers several factors: the total number of inhabitants, the incorporation of municipalities into the Ministry of the Interior's Comprehensive Monitoring System for Gender Violence Cases (VIOGEN), and the number of women and their children registered in Elda who are users of the Telephone Assistance and Protection Service for victims of gender violence (ATENPRO).
The subsidy, received in a single payment, must be executed by municipalities by June 30, 2027. City councils have the discretion to allocate the funds, provided they adhere to the key project areas: awareness, institutional response, victim assistance and protection, training, studies, and statistical monitoring. Emphasis is placed on addressing other forms of violence against women, such as sexual violence and trafficking for sexual exploitation, with special attention to rural women and women with disabilities.
The Councilor for Equality, María Gisbert, highlighted that these contributions from the Spanish Government have enabled Elda to carry out numerous activities and programs in recent years. Among these, she noted the Reinforcement Program for victims' care, including the Digital Gender Violence Victim Support Point and emergency accommodations, as well as youth awareness initiatives, prevention in educational settings, audiovisual campaigns, affective-sexual education, and specialized professional training.
Gisbert stated that the State Pact against Gender Violence represents a firm and joint commitment to combat one of the most serious human rights violations. Its comprehensive and coordinated approach, focusing on prevention, protection for women and their children, and social awareness, is an essential step towards a more just, safe, and equal society.
